Update: It is with a heavy heart that we share that Herm Caviness passed away February 13, 2023 and will join Chris for all of eternity. The family’s hope and wishes is that this scholarship can continue for years to come to now honor BOTH Chris and Herm.
 
Donations for the Coach Caviness “You Gave It Your All” Scholarship Fund, are being accepted as a tribute to the late Ferris high school graduate (1982) and Ferris Track & Cross Country Coach Chris Caviness, who passed away on April 20, 2020 from cancer at age 56. The fund is also a living tribute to Chris’ father, Ferris Coach Herm Caviness, who coached track and cross country at Ferris High School for 19 years and won 2 State Championships. Both coaches were instrumental in inspiring many athletes to always “Give It Your All”.
 
A permanent plaque honoring the two Caviness coaches will be displayed in the Ferris trophy case. Each year a male and female athlete, from track or cross country, who best demonstrates the important character quality of “Giving It Their All” will be awarded a scholarship from the fund and their names will be added to the plaque.
